The much-anticipated Goods and Services Tax Appellate Tribunals (GSTAT) may take another six months to become operational. Many states are yet to appoint members or allocate office spaces, delaying the process, according to a report by The Economic Times. Initially, the tribunals were expected to start functioning by December 2024.
A Division Bench of the Kerala High Court has directed the State government to complete the process for selection of members for the Goods and Services Tax (GST) Appellate Tribunal in four months.
The formation of the GSTAT is eagerly awaited by all stakeholders, as more than 15000 Cases are pending! As the President has now assumed office, the government must provide clarification on the applicable time limit to prevent potential further litigation.
