The Unified Pension Scheme (UPS) was notified by the Ministry of Finance, Government of India, vide Notification dated 24.01.2025. The scheme is applicable to new recruits joining the Central Government services on or after 01.04.2025, and offers an option to existing Central Government employees under NPS to opt into UPS.
One-time, One-way Switch facility from UPS to NPS made available to the Central Government Employees under specific conditions
The Department of Financial Services, Ministry of Finance vide its Notification dated 24.01.2025 had notified introduction of the Unified Pension Scheme (UPS) as an option under NPS for the recruits to the Central Government civil service w.e.f. 01.04.2025 giving one-time option to the Central Government employees covered under the National Pension System (NPS) for inclusion under the UPS.
