Two CGST officers, middleman held for taking 1.25L bribe

Two central GST officers and a middleman was arrested, allegedly, for accepting Rs. 1.25 lakh as bribe from a bullion trader in Ahmedabad on Wednesday.

PMC faces ₹200 crore deficit due to unsettled GST dues

The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) is grappling with an annual deficit of ₹200 crore, primarily stemming from outstanding GST dues from the Maharashtra government. This financial strain relates to 34 villages that were merged into the PMC in 2017. Former standing committee chairman Hemant Rasane previously urged the state government to settle pending dues amounting to ₹1,095 crore, which have remained unpaid since 2019. Currently, the PMC administration estimates that the total GST dues owed to its exchequer stand at approximately ₹1,400 crore.

GST hike on electric vehicles to hit adoption” Merceedes-Benz

Mercedes-Benz said that any changes in GST rates on electric vehicles will have an impact on investment and employment, while slowing down their sales. The comments come at a time when the GST council is understood to be discussing raising GST rates on cares priced above Rs. 40 lakh from existing subsidised tariff of 5%.

Cybercrooks posing as customs officers duped a 33 year-old woman from BT Kawade Road of Rs. 17.51 lakh by threatening to take action against her friend, claiming that the letter had arrived at New Delhi airport with an actionable amount of foreign currency.
