CBI Unearths Rs 100 Crore Bogus GST Bills, Seize Gold Bars In Raids

The Central Bureau of Investigation has uncovered a 100-crore scam, allegedly executed by claiming GST through forged export bills.

The massive scam was unearthed on Saturday when the probe agency carried out searches at seven locations in Bihar and Jharkhand, including two places in Patna and Jamshedpur. During raids, CBI officials seized seven gold bars, each weighing 100 grams each.

CBI investigation revealed that Superintendent Customs (Land Custom Station) Bhimnagar and two other accused including then Superintendent, Customs, LCS Jaynagar (now Assistant Commissioner, Customs) and the then Additional Commissioner, Customs, Patna entered into criminal conspiracy with the accused, G-Card Holder/Private Person and exporter firms and 23 importer firms.

“Accused individuals colluded with each other to show fake export of tiles and automobile parts from LCS, Bhimnagar, Jaynagar and Bhittamore either to get the refund or claim tax refund from jurisdictional GST Office,” said Officials.

“It’s further alleged that fraudulent claim about these bogus GST Claims through *fake export Bills of nearly Rs. 100 crores has been claimed by the suspect firms and exporters ,” the CBI said in a statement on Saturday.
