CBI books CGST Deputy Commissioner in Madurai on graft charge

Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has booked four officials of Central GST, including its Deputy Commissioner M. Saravanakumar, on charges of demanding ₹5 lakh bribe from a transport operator in Madurai on Tuesday.

Other accused have been identified as Ashok and Rajbir Singh Rana, both Superintendents, and Inspector Sameer Gautam. They have been booked for criminal conspiracy under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and under provisions of Prevention of Corruption Act.
