Eicher Motors Ltd on Thursday said its subsidiary VE Commercial Vehicles Ltd (VECV) has received a GST demand of Rs. 192.36 crore, including penalty, in a case related to the delayed reporting of credit notes for the financial year 2017-18.
In a regulatory filing, Eicher Motors said VECV had received a show case notice (SCN) in July 2025 from the Commissioner , CGST & Central Excise, Ujjain Commissionerate, Madhya Pradesh, alleging contraventions of provisions under the CGST Act, 2017. The notice proposed a GST demand of Rs. 168.18 crore, along with an equivalent penalty.
Following VECV’s response to the SCN, the company received a demand order on December 29, 2025, confirming a tax demand of Rs. 96.18 crore, lower than the amount mentioned in the notice, along with an equivalent penalty and applicate interest.
Eicher Motors said that based on its assessment of the matter and legal advice, VECV believes the order lacks merit and will file an appeal before the appropriate forum within the prescribed timelines.
The company added that the demand order is not expected to have any impact on its financial position, operations or other business activities.
