The Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI) has demanded the Centre should waive penalty and interest on integrated goods and services tax (IGST) under the advance license scheme. Around 10,000 traders and units in the state, who have received notices from the GST department for penalty and interest, have approached the GCCI for a resolution.
GCCI President has written a letter to Union Finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman stating, “We have received representations from our member units stating they have received summons along with interest and penalty with regards to IGST payable under notifications no. 54/2018 dated 09.10.2018.”
