Income Tax Department recovers Rs 65 crore dues from Congress account

The Income Tax Department has successfully “recovered” Rs. 65 crore from the Indian National Congress, out of a total tax due of Rs. 115 crore. The recovery was made from Congress party’s bank account on Tuesday, following the department’s imposition of a lien on the party’s account.

Sources reveal that the Income Tax Department had marked a lien of Rs.115 crore in the Congress Party’s accounts. In response to the recovery action, the congress party has swiftly moved to challenge the decision. Advocates representing the Congress have filed a complaint with the Income Tax Appellate Tribunal, contesting the department’s actions.
