Five states show interest in implementing Aadhaar-based authentication for GST registration

Five states, including Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Telangana, have shown interest in rolling out Aadhaar-based authentication for GST registration, an official said on Monday. The biometric-based authentication was discussed at the third National Co-ordination Meeting of senior Central and State GST officers earlier this month. Read more

​​Canada’s Justin Trudeau government imposes Rs 82 lakh fine on Infosys

Infosys is facing a penalty of over Rs 82 lakh in Canada. According to a report by the news agency PTI, The Justin Trudeau-led government has imposed a penalty of over 1.34 lakh Canadian dollars on the Indian IT company. The Canadian government alleged that the penalty on Infosys was imposed due to underpayment of employee health tax for the year ended December 31, 2020. Read more

EPFO introduces auto claim settlement for education, marriage, housing

The Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has introduced auto-mode settlement of advance claims for medical, education, marriage and housing purposes. Auto mode of claim settlement was introduced in April 2020 for the purpose of advance for illness. The facility was extended to education and marriage under Rule 68K and for housing under Rule 68B, via a press release dated May 13, 2024. Read more
