CBDT launches Electronic Campaign to address income and transaction mismatches for FY 2023-24 and FY 2021-22

The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) has launched an electronic campaign to assist taxpayers in resolving mismatches between the income and transactions reported in the Annual Information Statement (AIS) and those disclosed in Income Tax Returns (ITRs) for the financial years 2023-24 and 2021-22.

SCN can be issued both under Section 73 and 74 of the CGST Act

The Hon’ble Punjab & Haryana High Court in the case of Group M. Media India (P.) Ltd. dismissed writ petition and held that Issuance of SCN under Section 73 of the CGST Act and dropping proceedings would not prevent the department from independently initiating subsequent proceedings under Section 74 of the CGST Act.
