The state government’s taxation department has launched an awareness campaign to apprise residents about its one time settlement (OTS) scheme for GST payment and the ‘Mera Bill’ app.
A spokesperson said that OTS camps are being organised by field officers in Ludhiana division for encouraging taxpayers to avail the OTS scheme launched by the government of Punjab.
He said that under the campaign, door-to-door drives are being carried out by the departmental officials to generate awareness. The taxpayers are also being contacted over telephone and in-person. He said that under the scheme, the taxpayers can deposit half of the tax imposed, and the interest and the penalty will be waived off.
Similarly, the officials are also spreading awareness about the Mera Bill app on a large scale in the district and state. Meanwhile, an inspection was conducted at a departmental store located at Jassian Road, Haibowal, he added. He said the campaign has been launched on the directions of taxation commissioner Arshdeep Singh Thind and deputy commissioner, state GST, Darvir Raj Kaur.
