EPFO officer arrested for taking bribe of Rs 1 lakh
NC Nathwani, enforcement officer of the Employees Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO), was arrested in Jamnagar along with a consultant, officials said on Thursday. He was arrested for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 1.10 lakh for settling pending PF-related issues.
The CBI registered a case against Nathwani and the consultant from Mithapur, Devbhumi Dwarka HK Bhayani and his son Jay. The accused demanded the bribe for pending PF-related issues, pertaining to the complainant’s firm, engaged in supply of unskilled labour to a private company at Mithapur.
Nathwani was arrested while accepting “illegal gratification of Rs 1.10 lakh from the partner of a firm of the complainant through the consultant/middleman”. So, Bhayani and his son were also arrested. Searches are being conducted at the premises of the accused at various places of Devbhumi Dwarka, Jamnagar and Rajkot, the CBI said.
