The ninth GST Day was celebrated in Hyderabad on July 1, with High Court Chief Justice Aparesh Kumar Singh describing the Goods and Services Tax as a landmark reform that has transformed India’s indirect tax system through digitalisation, uniformity and cooperative federalism.
Addressing the gathering as the chief guest, Justice Singh said GST has made tax administration more transparent, efficient and taxpayer-friendly since its implementation on July 1, 2017. He noted that while technology-driven compliance has modernised tax administration, it has also created new legal and operational challenges, including disputes relating to digital notices, Input Tax Credit and appeal timelines.
