Gujarat recorded a robust 26% year-on-year rise in GST collections in July 2026, with revenues reaching Rs. 8,418 crore compared to Rs. 6,678/- crore in the same month last year, according to figures released by the state govt on Saturday.
The growth was well above the national average of 15.4% during the month, underscoring the state’s strong tax performance despite a higher base effect.
In addition to GST, Gujarat collected Rs. 3,105 crore through value-added tax (VAT), Rs. 1,020 crore from electricity duty and Rs. 23 crore under business tax in July. Combined collections from these sources at Rs. 12,566 crore during the month.
At the national level, GST revenues touched Rs. 2.11 lakh crore in July 2026, registering a 15.4% increase over Rs. 1.83 lakh crore collected in July 2025.
Meanwhile, the Centre on Saturday released on advance tax devolution instalment of Rs. 1.09 lakh crore to states, ahead of the regular monthly transfer scheduled for Aug 10. The Union govt sad the move was intended to strengthen state finances and support faster capital and developmental spending. Gujarat received Rs. 4,094 crore as its share of the advance devolution.
