Illiterate labourer gets notice to clear Rs 22.8 lakh GST dues
Janapati Venkateswarlu, a daily wage labourer from Chundrugonda, was left stunned after receiving a demand notice from the Vijayawada Commercial Tax Office for unpaid GST dues amounting to Rs 22.8 lakh. The notice, a DRC-7 dated March 4, was delivered to his home at 4-14 Temple Street, Chandrugonda, in the district.
CBI catches Rohtak tax officer taking Rs 50,000 bribe
An Income Tax Officer in Haryana’s Rohtak was caught by the CBI accepting bribe of Rs 50,000 from a 62-year-old man. Hemant Kumar Nain, an officer at the Income Tax Commissionerate, allegedly concealed his identity and demanded bribe in connection with an Income Tax Notice to the elderly man.

US Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick said that President Donald Trump wants to eliminate taxes for individuals earning less than $150,000 per year. In an interview in a CBS interview, Lutnik shared Trump’s tax objective. “I know what his (Trump’s) goal isβ¦ no tax, for anybody who makes less than $150,000 a year. That’s his goal. That’s what I’m working for,β Lutnick said.
