The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Saturday (June 21, 2025) conducted searches in Bihar and Jharkhand in a case registered against the then Additional Commissioner, Customs, Patna, and 29 others over bogus GST claims through fake export bills of nearly ₹100 crore.

Gross direct tax collections rise by 4.86% in the current financial year, so far
The country’s gross direct tax collections for the financial year 2025-26 rose by 4.86 per cent to about 5.45 lakh crore rupees as of June 19 compared to about 5.19 lakh crore rupees in the same period last year. However, net direct tax collections saw a marginal decline of 1.39 per cent, dropping to over 4.58 lakh crore rupees.
Net Direct Tax collection dips 1.39% to ₹4.59 lakh crore in April-June
Net direct tax collection so far this fiscal stood at ₹4.59 lakh crore, 1.39% lower compared to the mop-up during the corresponding period of last fiscal, as advance tax collections slowed, government data released on Sunday (June 21, 2025) showed.
