The President has given assent to the Bill and now it is Act, The Income Tax Act, 2025 (No. 30 of 2025). It extends to whole of India. It shall come into force from 01.04.2026

The new Income Tax Act, 2025 will usher in a more rule-driven and technology-driven ecosystem for direct tax administration, with artificial intelligence (AI) set to support enforcement and taxpayer services, Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) Chairman Ravi Agrawal said on Friday.
The Income Tax Department recently released the draft income tax rules in line with the New Income Tax Act. There are several changes in the draft rules pertaining to the requirement of quoting PAN Card.
