Income Tax Officials Raid At DMK Leader R Avudaiyappan’s Residence

A team of Income Tax department officials searched senior DMK leader and former Tamil Nadu Assembly Speaker R Avudaiyappan’s residence on Thursday. According to the reports, the Income Tax department got a tip that a big amount of cash is kept at the DMK leader’s residence, which is likely to be used in the upcoming elections to woo voters.

Avudaiyappan is DMK’s District Secretary for Tirunelveli (East) unit.

The reports said a nine-member team led by Sasi Shankar conducted the search at Maharaja Nagar in Palayamkottai and recovered a hefty amount. After the raid, the senior DMK leader was asked to sign a statement that mentioned details about the search and the sum recovered from his property.

At first, Avudaiyappan was reluctant, but later signed the statement, an official reported.
