Donald Trump doubles India tariff to 50% over Russian oil purchase
US President Donald Trump on Wednesday signed an executive order doubling India tariff to 50 per cent, announcing an additional 25 per cent duties over Russian oil purchase, according to the White House website.
In a significant development, US President Donald Trump on Wednesday imposed an additional 25% tariffs on India over Russian oil purchase. With this the total tariff on India increased to 50%. Notably, Trump signed a nine-section order while outlining the details of various aspects such as the background, the tariffs, the scope of duties and stacking, among others.

Along with an additional 25% import tariff on India, US President Donald Trump stated in his executive order that the provisions may be modified if any foreign country retaliates against the United States in response to the move.The order has given the power to Trump for future modifications based on new intelligence, foreign retaliation, or shifts in alignment with U.S. policy.
